NAAAP-Chicago is encouraging our members to volunteer in the local Census project so that we can gather accurate data of the Asian communities residing in Illinois. This census data is crucial to our community because it directly affects funding for schools, transportation planning, health programs, and other social services such as English programs and job training. It is also important because it is used to determine the number of seats for our state in the U.S. House of Representatives and the alignment of voting districts. If you are fluent in an Asian language and would like to assist in interpreting at a Census event or simply want to help out the cause, let us know. For more information about the Census, log onto http://www.asianamericancensusil.org and help Asians count today!
