The Indo-American Center's 2010 Annual Benefit Gala will take place on Sunday, September 19 at the Oak Brook Marriott.  This year's event will feature Ms. Padmasree Warrior, Chief Technology Officer of Cisco Systems, as the keynote speaker.  ABC7 News Anchor Ravi Baichwal will serve as the emcee for another consecutive year.

In keeping with tradition, the Benefit will commence with a cocktail hour and feature a full dinner and an auction.  The Board of Directors expects five hundred to six hundred prominent members of the South Asian community to be in attendance.  The event is sure to make for an entertaining evening, as well as a valuable networking experience.

The Indo-American Center, which is a Chicago-based non-profit organization, was established in 1990 to respond to the wide needs within Chicago's South Asian immigrant population. It continues to move forward the founders' mission today, promoting the well being of South Asian immigrants through services that facilitate their adjustment, integration and friendship with the wider society, nurturing their sense of community, and fostering appreciation for their heritage and culture. In doing so, the Center operates eight main programs: Citizenship and Immigration Assistance, Public Benefits Assistance, an Adult Literacy Program, a Youth Development Program, Civics and American History courses, Computer classes, a Seniors' Program and the Cyriac D. Kappil Legal Clinic. Proceeds from the evening will be used to respond to the growing demand for services within the community.

The Indo-American Center looks forward to reserving space for interested NAAAP members.  For more information about tickets, donations, or sponsorships, please contact IAC Development Coordinator Kali Cohn at (773) 973-4444, ext. 114 or at kcohn@indoamerican.org.
