NAAAP Chicago Event Recap
06

The inaugural event for the Women in Leadership committee, “Path to Success’ took place on Saturday July 11, 2009 at the Silversmith Hotel. Over 40 people spanning eight different industry sectors attended to hear from our esteemed panelists on their path to success and how they overcame barriers.

The event started with a networking session, followed by a panel moderated by Rose Tibayan.  Panelists Nancy Chen - Regional Administrator, Women’s Bureau, US Dept. of Labor; Sonya Gong-Jent – VP Operations, Multicultural Business Development, State Farm; and Erikka Wang – Co-founder of the retail boutique chain, Akira led a lively discussion. They provided the audience with insights into challenges they faced as an Asian woman, how they came to be in leadership positions and advice for being marketable in any market.  Representing three generations of Asian women, these Asian women leaders are great role models for all aspiring Asian women!

Thanks to GE for co-sponsoring the event.
